Prabowo to Inaugurate Padang-Sicincin Toll Road This December

PADANG, kiprahkita.net - Acting Governor of West Sumatra (Sumbar), Audy Joinaldy, has confirmed that the construction of the Padang-Sicincin toll road has reached 85% completion and is on track for full completion by the end of this year.

The government aims for the toll road to be inaugurated by Indonesia's President, Prabowo Subianto, during the second week of December 2024.

This update was revealed during a meeting between the West Sumatra provincial government and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) at the Directorate General of Highways' meeting room on Friday, November 15, 2024.

The meeting was attended by several officials, including the Director General of Highways, Rachman Arief Dienaputra; Acting Governor Audy Joinaldy; CEO of Bank Nagari, Gusti Chandra; Acting Regional Secretary Yozawardi; Governor's Expert Staff Maswar Dedi; Head of the Public Works and Housing Office (BMCKTR) Era Sukma Munaf; Head of the Housing and Settlement Office (Perkimtan) Rifda Suryani; and Head of Public Relations Bureau, Mursalim.

“We are pleased to report that the land acquisition progress for the Padang-Sicincin toll road is almost complete, reaching 99.8%. Only three plots of land at the toll access point remain to be acquired. Overall, the progress is nearly 100%,” Audy stated.

As for the physical construction progress, Audy confirmed it has reached 85% and is expected to be fully completed by year-end.

This milestone would allow the road to be inaugurated and operational by December. The toll road is part of the Padang-Pekanbaru toll network, and the next phase of construction will begin once conditions permit.

“Given the significance and the high public demand for this toll road, not just in West Sumatra but in neighboring provinces, we hope for special attention to be given to its construction process,” Audy added.

Regarding land acquisition, Head of the Perkimtan Office, Rifda Suryani, noted that 12 plots of land remain unresolved, three of which are at the toll access point.

"The acquisition process is ongoing, and these plots are currently under consignment determination," Rifda explained.

Meanwhile, Head of the BMCKTR Office, Era Sukma Munaf, suggested an alternative route for the continuation of the Padang-Pekanbaru toll road. Instead of the Sicincin-Bukittinggi section, the route could shift to Sicincin-Singkarak-Tanah Datar due to lower land acquisition costs compared to the Kubang Putih area.

Director General of Highways, Rachman Arief Dienaputra, expressed optimism about the inauguration of the Padang-Sicincin toll road.

“We have coordinated intensively with leadership to ensure the President's presence during the inauguration. We aim to synchronize the event with the groundbreaking of the Sitinjau Lauik Flyover in mid-December 2024,” Rachman said.

He highlighted the importance of the Padang-Pekanbaru toll road, noting its potential to enhance connectivity between eastern and western Sumatra. The government hopes for smooth and swift land acquisition processes to accelerate project timelines.

“We must remember the success story of the rapid and smooth land acquisition for the Tabing-Duku section under Mr. Hediyanto’s leadership, which covered 10 kilometers in just one month. We aim for similar efficiency in the Sitinjau Lauik Flyover and toll road projects,” Rachman concluded. (adpsb)
