BENER MERIAH, kiprahkita.net - Acting Regional Secretary (Pj Sekda) of Bener Meriah, Riswandika Putra, welcomed a delegation from the West Bandung Job Creation Team for a discussion at his office on Friday.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and exploring economic potential in Bener Meriah, particularly in the coffee sector, one of the region’s leading commodities.
During the meeting, Riswandika Putra emphasized the immense potential of Gayo Arabica coffee, which has long been the backbone of Bener Meriah’s economy.
However, he pointed out that support from the central government, especially from the Ministry of Manpower, is crucial to advance local coffee processing into finished products with higher added value.
“We want Bener Meriah and Central Aceh to not only sell raw coffee beans, but also produce finished goods that compel buyers to purchase processed products directly from here. For this, we need support from the Job Creation Center and the Ministry of Manpower,” said Riswandika Putra.
The meeting was attended by Agus Illa Lami, an Intermediate Expert Employment Mediator from the Bekasi Job Creation Center, and Junaidi, a First Expert Employment Mediator.
Representatives from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) were also present, offering insights into the development of the coffee commodity in Bener Meriah.
The Acting Regional Secretary expressed his hope that the West Bandung Job Creation Team would provide full support, noting their previous experience collaborating with other regions across Indonesia in developing local potential.
Agus Illa Lami from the Job Creation Team emphasized the importance of processing coffee into finished products.
"By turning coffee into ready-to-sell products, the income of the local community can significantly increase," he explained.
The team also affirmed their commitment to supporting Bener Meriah in expanding the coffee sector and creating more jobs through the development of local commodities like Gayo coffee.
This support is expected to enhance the well-being of the local community by increasing the economic value of Gayo coffee.
Also in attendance were the Head of the Bener Meriah Transmigration and Manpower Office and the Head of the Bener Meriah Personnel and Human Resources Agency (BKPP), who contributed to discussions on strategic steps to fully leverage the potential of Bener Meriah's coffee industry. (infopublik)
